So, I secretly subscribe to a cheezy fashion magazine, which is very very out of character since I am not particularly fashionable or girly. But, nonetheless, I have subscribed for years and I am very excited when it appears in my mailbox every month. I figure, it costs something like $12 a year for a subscription, and I _more_ than get a dollar worth of enjoyment out of it.
But anyways. It arrived the other day, and I was very excited and decided to read it before I went to sleep. I admit, I was groggy. But, when I turned the page to this ad, it seriously took more time than I want to admit to figure out what the hell was going on... lets see if you can tell...
Pretty, right? It's 3-dimensional, with little colored things held in the air by curled plastic pieces. Very elaborate. But, what is it? Look closer...
And then, there is a lightening bolt moment...
Yes, its true. These are flying underpants. A garden of flying underpant-butterflies, in fact.
I get what they're trying to do. But seriously, this thing is ELABORATE, it must have been no small thing to put together this 3-d twirly plasticy 2 page ad. And, I'm not really convinced that I'm any closer to buying Fruit of the Loom underwear after having seen it. I'm also not convinced I want my underpants to fly- I have enough trouble finding my socks as it is. I do have to give them points for entertainment value, though.
those are some whimsical undies! Thank you, I needed that laugh!
ReplyDeleteHa I guesses butterflies! does that count? I never woudl have guessed undies. looks neat...thought it was some type of mobile at first.
ReplyDeleteHaha I'd love to know what magazine it was in.
ReplyDeleteWow! could make a great mobile as suggested! :D
ReplyDeletewow...imagine how many of those had to be put together for all the other fashion magazine subscribers!!
ReplyDeleteI have to know this "secret" magazine. Spill!
ReplyDeleteYou should do a contest, like whoever guesses correctly wins those flying underpants.
That is freakin' weird! They must have spent a small fortune on that campaign.
ReplyDeleteI know, right? Thats whats mind blowing- this could not have been cheap!
ReplyDeletebanana-head- after your post I was totally going to say I would mail the whole ad (which detaches and pulls out, by the way) to whoever guessed. The problem is I'm completely transfixed and may not be ready to part with it yet...
What a hoot! I thought it was a butterfly mobile at first...took me a while to see the undies >^.^<
ReplyDeletehaha. well, I'd settle for knowing this secret magazine!
ReplyDeleteI got a free subscription to Nylon and I finding it delightfully irritating and embarrassing. :)
